Hill Gets a "Hat Trick."
Aberdeen "A" had to fight hard for the points at Cathkin Park on Saturday when they got the better of Third Lanark "A" by the odd goal in five in an Alliance League fixture. Aberdeen "A" had the better of the quiet opening exchanges, Wilson and Donald being always prominent. Simpson, the Third Lanark right back, handled in the penalty area, but Newman saved Falloon's spot kick in clever style. After twenty-five minutes' play Hill scored a smart goal to give Aberdeen the lead. This reverse served as a spur to the home side, and clever work by Chalmers resulted in Allison levelling the scores. Until the interval the exchanges were of an even nature. The visitors reopened with a brisk attack, and Wilson grazed the crossbar with a splendid shot. Subsequently the exchanges favoured Third Lanark, and they forced three corners, but all proved fruitless. Shortly afterwards Wilson beat Blackwell from a difficult angle, and Thirds took the lead for the first time. Aberdeen retaliated in spirited fashion, and after clever play Hill once more put the teams on an equal footing. Aberdeen continued on the offensive, and from a penalty Hill put his side on the lead, and completed his "hat trick."Source: Press & Journal, 3rd December 1928
