Scoring Feats By The Aberdeen Reserves

Aberdeen A opened the season in convincing style at Pittodrie, when they trounced Falkirk A ti the tune of twelve goals to nil. The Brockville eleven were a poor lot, and the nippy Aberdeen forwards did practically as they liked.
David and Merrie had the distinction of each scoring five goals. The outstanding men in the Aberdeen side were Hickie, McLeod, David, and Merrie. For Falkirk, Miller, Jordan, and the outside-left were the only players worthy of mention.
From the start Aberdeen had the better of the exchanges, and the Falkirk goal had several narrow escapes before David opened the scoring. McLeod, Falloon, and McLaren almost increased the lead. Except for occasional raids, in which Miller and Newman, comprising the left wing, were prominent, Falkirk were continually on the defensive. Twenty-five minutes after the start Merrie accepted a nice pass from Wilson to increase the home total, and shortly afterwards the same player added another. The visitors' defence went to pieces after this, and a fourth goal was netted by McLaren from long range. A fifth was added by David, and then Falkirk made their first really dangerous move, the outside-left sending narrowly past.

Aberdeen Rampant.

The game had only been resumed six minutes when David completed his hat-trick, and a few minutes later Donald took the total to seven. Merrie netted the eighth and completed his hat-trick. A break-away by the visitors looked dangerous, and Jordan's try was not far off the mark. Their offensive did not last long, however, and the home players were soon hovering round the Falkirk goal. David increased the Aberdeen total to nine, and after McLaren had missed a penalty, he counted a tenth time. Soon after Merrie had scored another, Falkirk were awarded a penalty, but Blackwell saved the centre-forward's spot kick. Merrie completed the scoring shortly before the final whistle.
