This was an exciting game with six goals being shared, and a lot of near misses, especially at our end. I would have been annoyed if we had missed as many chances as the Celtic forwards passed up. After being up by three goals to one at half time, we should have had the game sewn up, but Celtic had other ideas, and really put as through the mill in the second half.
Jocky Scott put us ahead with a solo run finishing with a low shot into the corner of the net. Ian Gibson scored our second after beating a defender with a smart piece of footwork. Dougie Brown got our third when he finished off a good combined move which started in our own half of the field.
The second half would be best forgotten by our players, but I hope they have earned that against teams like Celtic, they have to be on their toes all the time. I'm sure the lads will join with me in wishing Jocky Scott the best of luck with his new club. Hopefully some of the younger players learned something from Jocky which will help them in the future. Andy Watson enjoyed his trip to Denmark with the Professional Youth Team and played for the last twenty minutes in their 2-0 win. Andy has been picked for the next game against Ayr on the 7th December, 1977.
