Still Winning

Reserves' Fine Performance at Beith.

Aberdeen "A" maintained their unbeaten certificate, and incidentally retained the Alliance League leadership, when they defeated Beith at the latter's ground by two goals nil.
With the advantage of the wind, Beith attacked at the start, and the Aberdeen defence was kept on the stretch. Blackwell did well to save a shot by Walters, and his charge ran a narrow escape when a shot by Hunter grazed the cross-bar. Aberdeen retaliated vigorously, and Merrie missed a splendid opportunity given him by Wilson. Continued pressure by the Pittodrie men was rewarded when, after shot by Merrie had been blocked, McKenzie found the net. Nettled this reverse, the home team pressed, and Blackwell was lucky to save a shot by D. Bell. In a goalmouth scrimmage Merrie added a second goal. Following this, even play ruled until the interval.
Immediately on the resumption Aberdeen attacked, and Fotheringham saved at point blank range from Falloon. The Beith defence was kept very busy, and Johnstone was always prominent. D. Bell led play to the other end, but his shot went over. The terrific pace which had been set was beginning to tell, and play as a result slowed up considerably.
