We had a comfortable 4-1 victory over Morton Reserves at Pittodrie last Saturday. After a goalless first half we came good. Neil Cooper gave us the lead from the penalty which was awarded when Duncan Davidson was brought down by the opposing centre-half. Duncan played a part in our second goal when he worked a one-two with Gordon Strachan who made a good job of his finishing effort. That goal put us in front again, as the Morton number 3 had headed the equaliser after some slack play by our defenders.
Alan Oliver headed our third, when Danny McGeough crossed from the left wing. Danny Got our fourth when Alan Oliver returned the compliment.
Morton's American goalkeeper showed up well with many fine saves, especially his handling of high balls. In our own team everybody played their part. One interesting part of the team was the fact that we had seven local boys in our team, they were: Andy Dornan, Neil Cooper, Doug Considine, Andy Watson, Neil Simpson, Duncan Davidson and John Hewitt. Neil Cooper and Andy Watson are former pupils of Hilton School, while John Hewitt is still a pupil at Hilton. I'll need to look back the records to see when we last had so many local boys in our team.
