Wee Dons Find The Killer Touch

We had a good win against Celtic Reserves at Parkhead on Saturday. Leading by two goals to nil at the interval, we relaxed a bit afterwards to let Celtic into the game. Fortunately we got a grip of the game again when we got our third goal and from then on we were in command.
Young Neil Burke who has been on the fringe of the reserve team got his chance on Saturday and he certainly took it. He was our two goal hero. Apart from his goals, he kept International player Danny McGrain from attacking our defence. Andy Watson did a great job for us on the right side of the field and it was his good work that gave us our first goal. He beat three defenders before crossing for Neil to hit the ball past Celtic's new qoalkeeper Bonar.
Our second counter was headed in by Duncan Davidson after great work by young Burke, who beat McGrain before crossing to make Duncan's job easy.
In the second half Celtic put a bit more pressure on us and with Doug Considine lying injured on our bye line, McGrain crossed and after a goalmouth melee, McPhee slammed the ball into the corner of the net. Three minutes later Neil Burke gave us our two goal lead when left uncovered at the far post, he headed home a good goal from an accurate cross from Duncan Davidson.
Jimmy Lumsden the former Clydebank player, who was set to come to Pittodrie to help coach the young players, scored Celtic's second goal from the penalty spot, after John Gardiner had brought down Mackie.
We played good football and we thoroughly deserved our win. John Gardiner had h is best game for us for some time and he got good support from Centre Backs, Neil Cooper and Steve Ritchie. Andy Watson was the pick of the midfield but Peter Kettings did a good job in keeping the experienced Lumsden quiet. Duncan Davidson and Danny McGeough both worked very hard and with a little luck could have had a goal or two.
