Airdrie 4 - 1 Aberdeen

These clubs gave a grand display at Airdrie - one of the finest of the League games at Broomfield. Early on Thomson cleverly snapped the first goal, and Reid followed suit a few minutes later. Before half-time Travers reduced the lead, and Main, with a wonderfully fine chance from Soye, ought to have levelled the score. For a time after resuming the second half the game was fast and evenly contested, but latterly Reid came into view with his wonderful dribbles. Twice he narrowly missed, but at length travelled from half-field, beating five opponents en route, and closing with a great goal. From that on the Airdrieonians took complete hold of the game, and Templeman added a fourth goal. The home team were much the better team. Aberdeen's weakness being at half-back, where none of the three shone against the fast and accurate play of the nimble Airdrie forwards. Reid's play was a feature, and his masterly goal was cheered again and again by the spectators. Result:- Airdrie, 4; Aberdeen, 1.

Under Scottish League auspices the Aberdeen team fell heavily to the Airdrieonians at Airdrie, victory going to the home team by 4 goals to 1. The Airdrie, the specially in the second half, were much the better balanced combination, and fully deserved their victory. Aberdeen were weak in defence, and only at times did the attack play at all convincingly. Donaldson scored for Airdrie in 5 minutes, and this was followed 10 minutes later by a clever goal from Reid. Aberdeen improved, and Travers reduced the leeway with a brilliant goal from 30 yards range. Until the interval Aberdeen fully held their own, but failed to get on level terms.

Aberdeen showed up better in the second half, and threatened for quite a lengthy period, but weakness near the goal spoiled the chances. After 20 minutes Reid, the Airdrie centre-forward, got possession, and, after beating four opponents, scored a magnificent goal. Before the end, Templeman put on a fourth goal for Airdrie, and Aberdeen were beaten on their merits.
