In order to provide match practice at a time of the year when the Premier Reserve fixtures close down in anticipation of poor weather there was also a match against Aberdeen University at Balgownie. This was won 4-2 on a good pitch with goals by McLeod, Simpson, Gardner and Thomson, unfortunately this game saw Simpson, who was battling to get his fitness back, forced to leave the field before the end with a calf strain. Goalkeeper Steve Beckett returned in this game and quickly proved that his finger injury is now healed.
