WHAT A TEAM performance the Young Dons gave last week to whip the Celtic colts 5-1! Willie Fernie, assistant trainer at Parkhead, was generous in his praise of our boys after the game and I think we should pay tribute to Celtic for keeping it an open game throughout. Ian Taylor's experience was a great asset in midfield and he capped his performance with an outstanding solo effort for the fifth goal. Another first-team pool player, Bertie Miller, also did very well, but, as I said, it was a great display of TEAMWORK that really won the day, carving open the Celtic defence time and time again.
Now comes the really big test this afternoon at Firhill where we meet our leading rivals for the title, Partick Thistle A. If we can win this one, the odds must be in our favour. With the team going for a clean sweep of the reserve honours, it is unfortunate that lads like Charlie Esslemont and Andy Kerr have been unable to get regular outings to bring them on.
