Aberdeen A won this inaugural 8 match tournament with 12 out of a possible 16 points, scoring 18 goals for the loss of 5.
Peterhead provided but poor opposition to Aberdeen Reserves on Saturday afternoon at Pittodrie in an Aberdeen and District League fixture. Over a couple of thousand assembled under splendid weather conditions to witness the return game, the predecessor to which had resulted in a goal-less draw.
The reserves gave ample indication from the first that they were out assert their definite superiority over the Buchan men, and only twice during the first half did the visitors come within scoring distance After sustained pressure, Macdonald opened the scoring with a fine shot. Play was confined, to a great extent to Peterhead's goalmouth, and Macdonald's second was a comparatively simple affair. Cooper's foot put the finishing touch to another goalmouth scramble, and towards half-time Macdonald completed his " hat trick." Even with their 4-0 lead, the homesters missed several very obvious chances.
The whistle to resume had gone less than a minute when Peterhead's attacking line were well round Murray and Hume, and Bisset sent in a shot which ricocheted from the upright out of play. The revival was only momentary, however. Macdonald's fourth came from well outside the penalty area, and two minutes later Wilson banged a high dropping shot with full force into goal. Bisset, the least inconsistent of Peterhead's forwards, beat, the home defence and scored magnificently, but the home centre soon piled up another couple. Another by Bisset finished the scoring in an extraordinary game. The three Juniors acquitted themselves well, and Macdonald, although playing a fine game, did not give the phenomenal display that double " hat trick " would indicate.
