Celtic Dump Young Dons

That dreaded combination of bad goals conceded and and too many reasonable chances wasted have bedevilled some recent reserve performances. This was particularly true at Celtic Park where a 4-0 defeat did not give an accurate reflection of most of the game. Until very late on, when two soft goals were conceded, Dons were well in the game having been 0-0 at half-time.
There were two main turning points, firstly when Alan Selbie was clearly brought down in the box yet, amazingly, no penalty was awarded. A spot kick then might have given the Dons an equaliser at 1-1. Then Robert McRobb made an uncharacteristic error which put the side two goals down despite the actual state of the play being fairly even. "After that the lads seemed to drop their heads a little and we conceded two more bad goals," confessed coach Teddy Scott.
The Celtic game saw the introduction of new signing from Stirling Albion, 19-year-old Andy Gibson. He was withdrawn late on but did enough to convince everyone that he has a fine career ahead. Initially he must face a similar problem to others who step up from this grade of football in terms of undertaking full-time training after being a part-timer. The potential benefits of this eventually as Gibson, who is in good shape already, gets added fitness and stamina, speak for themselves.
