ABERDEEN A's RECORD BROKEN.
Aberdeen A met with their first defeat in the Aberdeenshire and District League last night at Buckie, where Thistle triumphed over them by 3 goals 2. There was a large attendance, and the weather was ideal. The visitors kicked off, facing the sun, but with the assistance of a slight breeze. Early in the game a drive from Lees was going all the way when it, was cleared by Nicol at the expense of a corner, from which nothing accrued. The Buckie lads took up the running, and McIntosh was given a chance when Kinghorn crossed over in front of goal, but the winger missed the mark. Offsides nullified several efforts of the visitors. Moir was playing a forceful game, and Wood save from him on the line. Buckie applied pressure, and after a period of strenuous play, McIntosh opened Buckie's account. Aberdeen now attacked with vigour, and Moir shot narrowly past, and later Wood fisted out a shot by Forbes. For a foul off Nicol Aberdeen were given a penalty. Robertson was entrusted with the kick, but shot past. Buckie then pressed, and in a scramble in front of the goal Kinghorn struck post, with Lawrie out of his goal. The second half was resumed in Cup-tie fashion, Aberdeen being keen to secure the equaliser. The homesters were hard pressed, but they showed up magnificently against the pressure. Following some end-to-end play, Moir brought the score level with a soft goal. McIntosh just missed with a lightning shot, and soon afterwards Smith scored from close range. Moir and Bainbridge changed places, and the former had one or two dangerous tries. While Gray was off field, Stevenson secured the equaliser. Gray resumed, and Buckie took up the running again, and McIntosh scored the winning goal for the lighter side.Source: Aberdeen Daily Journal 20th April 1922
