At Bellslea Park last night, Fraserburgh took another point from Aberdeen A, whom they met in a return Aberdeenshire and District League engagement.
Aberdeen had the benefit from the outset of a stiff breeze, and their front line was prominent by smart combination. Fraserburgh were dogged, however, and after fifteen minutes Sim accepted a pass from the left and scored with an unsaveable shot. Hendry gave the visitors' goalkeeper a hot handful with a well-judged ball from the wing. Armstrong and McBoyle had their work out to stop the Fraserburgh right wing. Hendry crossed well, but Sim headed over, and for a great part of the game the Aberdeen goalkeeper had many anxious moments. Connon from a run, just missed the goal. Mowat afterwards made a mistake, and Petrie scored and equalised.
Fraserburgh took full advantage of the wind in the second half, and Aberdeen were entirely on the defensive. A mistake by Scott resulted in Connon putting his side ahead, Aberdeen being rather fortunate to lead. Fraserburgh netted but Mr Craigmyle had previously blown for offside. Aberdeen tried to keep their lead by resorting to kicking-out tactics. Rollo saved well from Grant, and Petrie missed a fine chance. The wind died down, and play became more even. From a splendid pass by Walker, Ironside missed the opportunity of the match, but six minutes from the end Gauld registered a splendidly-taken goal from well out. There were many minor casualties during the game, and when the whistle went Fraserburgh were having the better of the play.
