Losing 2-0 to Hibs at Easter Road in the Youth Cup was particularly disappointing as Aberdeen provided most of the good football only to be foiled on a number of occasions by Hibs' outstanding teenage goal-keeper Chris Reid.
While pushing forward down the Easter Road slope, the Pittodrie youngsters fell victim to two second-half breakaways which brought the home side the decisive goals.
The only consolation for the Aberdeen club is that they had a young team in this season's event and, with the notable exceptions of Stephen Wright and Scott Booth, all of this season's squad should be available for next season's campaign. The Easter Road tie also benefitted one of the Aberdeen players in Vinny Rae, who was subsequently selected for the Scotland Under-16 squad, along with Pittodrie clubmate Colin McRonald, for an important international tournament in France.
