Injuries to first and second team members have meant that young, inexperienced players have formed the bulk of Aberdeen's young rserve teams so far this season.
The signing of Neil Cooper some 15 seasons after he first signed for Aberdeen is a clear attempt to help and guide the young players. Neil's first game was against Hibs at Easter Road and he marshalled the defence well, proving an inspiration to the team.
In a match spoiled by constant rain Aberdeen never looked like losing a goal, so it was all the more annoying when Hibs scored near the end. The Young Dons created many chances throughout the game but scorned all except one.
The inevitable Andy Gibson scored yet again, his ninth strike of the season, netting a close-in shot from a rebound. He was again chosen to be in the squad for the second game against BK 1903 Copenhagen, a fitting reward for his fine form.
