PRACTICE MATCH Newcomers to Pittodrie Please.
Although the Scottish season does not open until next Saturday, Aberdeen enthusiasts had their appetites whetted at Pittodrie Park last night, when the Dons made their first appearance of the season in a practice game.
The popularity of the sport was amply demonstrated, a crowd of about 14,000 turning out.
All last season's first team players with the exception of the goalkeeper and internationalist Alec Cheyne, took part, along with the newcomers Cummings, Burke, Smith, Robertson. and Shannon. The teams represented the recognised first eleven attack versus the probable first team defence.

The Winners.

The Black and Gold side, which included the probable defence, triumphed over the Blues comprising a new defence and the first team attack by three goals to one.
Although neither side took any risks, the game was keenly contested, and the form shown by most of the players gives promise of a season as successful as last.
All the newcomers pleased, especially Burke. The latter was slightly injured and had to retire during the second perios.

A collection on behalf of Aberdeen hospitals was taken.
