Rampant Dons sink Hibs in goal blitz.
Aberdeen produced their best performance of the season to take their unbeaten run to eight games. The Dons showed one change from the team that beat Dundee in midweek. Belabed replaced Rutkiewicz with the youngster joining Bernard and Guntveit in Midfield with Stavrum playing through the middle supported by Winters and Dow.

In an even start the closest the Dons came to scoring was in the 14th minute when a good move between Stavrum and Belabed saw the young Moroccan shoot into the side netting when he could have pulled the ball back for Winters. Belabed was willing to have a pot shot from anywhere and three minutes later he struck a 20-yard effort just wide of the target. The Dons took the lead a minute later when Dow won the ball and sent in an early cross that Stavrum netted. Two minutes later Hibs won a free kick just outside the box and Leighton pulled off a magnificent save from the Capital sides effort.

In the 25th minute Leighton and Whyte collided and the international keeper was forced to go off with an eye injury. Preece replaced him and made his first appearance for the club since suffering concussion against Celtic in the 7-0 hammering at Parkhead. Five minutes later the Dons extended their lead when Belabed won the ball in midfield and released Dow. The full back played the ball wide to Stavrum who crossed to find Guntveit at the far post. His fellow Norwegian made no mistake with the finish. Two minutes before half time the Dons ended the match as a contest when Russell Anderson found himself in the box to score his first senior goal when he converted a Dow pass.

Kevin Rutkiewicz replaced Winters at the interval after the ex Dundee United man took a heavy knock. Any chance of a Hibs revival was killed when the Dons added a fourth within 40 seconds of the restart. Aberdeen won their first corner of the match and Whyte headed on for Stavrum to net his second. The Dons continued to play a good passing game with quality crossing. In the 58th minute Stavrum broke through and cut the ball back to Bernard only for the midfielder to see his shot blocked. Three minutes later Stavrum could have grabbed his hat trick when the keeper smothered the ball at his feet after he latched on to a Rutkiewicz cross.

The Norwegian had another chance in the 72nd minute when he picked up a poor clearance by the keeper. The goalie redeemed himself however by turning the shot away for a corner. In the 79th minute Preece made a fine save from ex Don Mixu Paatelainen and with five minutes remaining Rutkiewicz had a good effort turned wide. In the 90th minute Derek Whyte appeared to pick up a hamstring injury at the end of a great victory for the Dons but they will have to wait on the medical reports to find out the true cost of the win.
