FLEMING CHARITY SHIELD WON BY ABERDEEN. DUNDEE BEATEN AT PITTODRIE.
In the final for the Fleming Charity Shield, played yesterday at Pittodrie Park, Aberdeen, on the occasion of the Aberdeen May Holiday, in bright, warm weather, before about 4000 spectators, Aberdeen defeated Dundee by the only goal of the match, obtained in the first half by Rankine, who was playing inside left. In the second period Dundee strove hard to equalise, and Bell almost succeeded, but the defence prevailed.

In defeating Dundee by the only goal at Pittodrie yesterday, Aberdeen retain the Fleming Charity Shield for another year. In a lovely forenoon the game attracted an attendance of under 4000, and considering the object the match this was disappointing. If at times not very strenuous, the game was interesting, both teams showing much collective and individual cleverness which delighted the spectators. Aberdeen on the whole were the better team because they not only secured the winning goal, but were more frequently dangerous than were the visitors. Rankin had the credit of the goal which followed clever play by Grant shortly before the interval. On other occasions, Miller, Grant, Rankin, and Connon had tries for Aberdeen, but Lawrie in the home goal was never seriously tested. Aberdeen's superiority was maintained in the second half, Rankin, Grant, Connon, and McBoyle having good tries. Halliday was Dundee's solitary raider, and on several occasions Hutton was applauded for fine clearances from the dashing centre forward. On the home side all played well, notably Hutton, MacLachlan, McBoyle, Rankin, Connon, and Grant. Best for Dundee were McNeil, Rankin, Letham, Halliday, and McDonald.
