Merrie Makes Merry. Notches Six Goals at Pittodrie
Aberdeen A revealed something like their best form when they whacked the Dundee reserves by seven goals to nil at Pittodrie.
Merrie, the home centre-forward, was successful in finding the net no fewer than six times.
Dundee held their own for the opening fifteen minutes, but after Merrie had given the home team the lead, were completely outplayed.
O'Hare and Dempster were the only players who caused Cumming any anxiety. Twenty-five minutes after the start a shot by Dickie was deflected past Murray, and Aberdeen became two up.
Towards the interval the Pittodrie side asserted their superiority, and Merrie netted twice, once from a penalty.
Although Aberdeen fell away in the second half and Dundee came more into the picture, they never looked likely to cause the homesters any trouble. Early on Merrie secured a fourth goal after a splendid run by Falloon, and when a few minutes later the centre converted a pass from the left, the game lost interest.
Dickie was very prominent at this stage and kept Murray, in the visitors' goal, busy.
Lynch missed a great opportunity of opening Dundee's account. The ineffectiveness of the visitors' attack was heartbreaking.
Merrie completed the scoring with a seventh goal from a cute Donald cross.
