GAVIN WANTS TRANSFER

Aberdeen Club Not to Stand in Player's Way

Charles Gavin, the reserve centre-half, has requested the Aberdeen F.C. Board to place him on the open-to-transfer list. It is understood that the club will not stand in the player's way if an offer comes along. Gavin, who is in his fourth season at Pittodrie, joined the Aberdeen club from Ashfield. The player was disappointed when he was not selected to fill the vacancy caused by an injury to Falloon in the League side against Hamilton Accies last Saturday. Gavin, who is a promising player, feels that he is ready for First League football, and that it would be to his advantage if he were to change his quarters. Arbroath are said to be making inquiries regarding the player.

GAVIN GOES TO ARBROATH

Dons' Reserve Centre Half Transferred

Charlie Gavin, Aberdeen's reserve centre-half, was yesterday transferred to Arbroath, and will play for his new club against Third Lanark at Gayfield to-morrow. Gavin, who joined Pittodrie from Ashfield, is in his fourth season with the Aberdeen club, and has been one of the outstanding players in the reserve team. He has made numerous appearances in the League side, and one time or another has filled all the half-back berths.

No Surprise

His transfer does not come altogether as a surprise. He requested the Aberdeen F.C. Board this week to place him on the open-to-transfer list. The player was disappointed when he was not selected to fill the vacancy csused by an injury to Falloon in the League side against Hamilton Academicals last Saturday. Gavin felt that he was ready for First Division football and that it would be to his advantage if he were to change his quarters. He is strong defensive player and should prove a success with his new club. Gavin, who is twenty-three years of age, is 5ft. 9in. in height and weighs list. 21b.

Fee Said to be £350

Negotiations between Arbroath and the Aberdeen club opened on Wednesday in Dundee, and Mr R. MGlashan, the Arbroath manager, travelled. to Aberdeen yesterday forenoon, when terms were settled. The fee paid by the Angus club was not divulged, but it is probably in the region of £350.
