An instant hit with Dons fans when he got off to the most positive of starts by scoring on his debut against BK Hacken. The early stages of his first Pittodrie season saw him run up an impressive tally of goals, but they dried up in the second half when the Dons collectively hit a poor patch of form. Unuaually, the manager allowed Christian to go on leave before the end of the season - this was due to his showing signs of weariness having played through the previous summer in the MLS and continuing into the Scottish season. During his second Pittodrie season, Christian moved down the striker pecking order and his appearances were mainly limited to substitutions. He played his last match at Hampden Park when he replaced Bojan Miovski for extra time in the League Cup semi-final. On 19th January the Club confirmed that he had left for a modest fee to join Columbus Crew in the USA's MLS.
