A prolific goalscorer as he came up through the youth team ranks, he played a number of games in the first team, always from the bench, but did not manage to score. Sent loan to Morton for the most of season 2014-15 where he played a successful part in their promotion to the Championship. Offered a new contract in May 2015, Declan decided to turn it down in favour of a move to Fleetwood Town from where he went out on loan to Morton in 2016 and then Raith Rovers in 16/17. He joined Dunfermline Athletic for season 2017-18 then signed up on a two year deal with Ross County but spent the second season on loan at Falkirk. Returned to Dunfermline for season 2020-21 before moving on to join New Saints in the summer of 2021.
