Ester became Barry Robson's third signing of the summer of 2023 on the 16th of June when, subject to a work permit, it was announced that he had arrived in Aberdeen. He joined from NK Radomlje in Slovenia and at the time of signing had reached Slovenian Under-21 international level. The deal lined him up for three years with the Dons.
In his first season he mainly joined matches from the bench but was a more regular starter in his second until injury ended his campaign early.
