Full name: John Kessack Ogston.

Was a National Serviceman in the Royal Engineers in 1960/61, stationed at Southampton and was considered one of the most travelled players in British football. Played for Scotland's Under-23 team v Scottish Second Division in January 1961, at Falkirk. Was in the Scotland squad for three World Cup qualifying matches in May 1961, versus Eire (twice) and Czechoslovakia. Described as tall and burly with capable, big hands. ".

John joined the Dons from Banks o' Dee, and was a former Powis schoolboy. He was the recular 'keeper from 1959 to 1965, but was then displaced by the up and coming Bobby Clark. Subsequently fell out with Eddie Turnbull and left the club in 1966, moving on to join Liverpool where he did not maage to break into the first team.
Ended his playing career with Deveronvale on 1974.
