With Aberdeen building connections with football and business in the USA, it was almost inevitable that transatlantic loans would begin to take place. Jon, who had in his youth been coached by Bobby Clark and at Atlanta was being coached by Stephen Glass, became the very first player to arrive on loan from a North American Club.
Made an immediate impact in his debut match, showing blistering pace and versatility. Set up Sam Cosgrove for the second goal of the game.
At the end of the 2019-20 season Jon returned to his parent club but on 13th December 2020 he was "traded" to Austin FC for $225,000.
