Leighton Clarkson

Leighton's loan signing for season 2022-2023 was announced on the 6th of August. He joined the Dons from Liverpool FC and in the previous season and spent some time on loan with Blackburn Rovers. At Pittodrie he made an imediate positive impact and was a regular starter, scoring and creating goals from his midfield role. At the end of his loan, the Club reached an agreement in priciple with Liverpool FC to sign him permanently and waited for the player, himself, to decide if he would return. On 15th June it was confirmed that the talented player had signed a four year deal to remain at Pittodrie.
A great passer of the ball, especially from deep positions, Clarkson became a key part of the midfield of the team but proved more effective in some roles more than others. He was a member of the 2025 Scottish Cup winning team in what proved to be a very challenging match for the midfielder who put in a shift covering in front of the defence.
