ABERDEEN SIGN A FORWARD

It was announced yesterday that Aberdeen F.C. have signed on a new inside-right in the person of Michael Cosgrove, a Dundee lad, and he will make his debut for the Pittodrie team against Raith Rovers at Kirkcaldy on Saturday.
Cosgrove is a a well-built young fellow of 23 years. He stands 5ft. 11in. in his stockings and weighs 12 stone.
In 1921 Cosgrove, while a member of Dundee North End, received several junior inter-county caps, and although not actually "capped" played in three junior international trial games. His ability attracted the attention of Dundee, among other clubs, which at the time included Aberdeen and he ultimately signed for Dundee. He made several appearances in the League team and played against Aberdeen.
Near the end of the season he was transferred to Tottenham Hotspur for a big fee. His style evidently did not suit English football, as, although he was retained in 1922, the London club agreed to lend him to Celtic, and he did well for the Glasgow club.
At the end of 1922, Cosgrove, along with many other players of repute, succumbed to American bait and crossed the Atlantic. He became identified with Brooklyn Wanderers, and along with Hogg, late of Montrose, constituted one of the best right wing combinations in the American League. Cosgrove was second highest scorer in the America League, the top position being occupied Alec Jackson, Aberdeen's present outside right, who was playing inside right for Bethlehem F. C.
Since he re-crossed the Atlantic there has been keen competition for Cosgrove's signature and Aberdeen just beat an English club in securing him.
With the signing of Cosgrove, Aberdeen will now have three ex-American playing side by side

Mike eventually emigrated to the USA and settled near Buffalo, New York, working in a bank until his retirement. Also worked as a golf pro in latter life at the Grand Island Golf course.
