Although being one of the costliest acquisitions by the Dons, and signed on a four year deal, Ronald made few appearances for the Dons in his first year at the Club. This was, in part, because of the consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic, but he did feature on the substitutes bench quite a lot in the 2020-2021 season until he was allowed to travel home to Venezuela to see his family. On 18th February 2021 Aberdeen announced that Ronnie would go on loan to Atlanta United for the duration of their MLS season. The move was made permanent on 17th January 2022 with the Dons receiving a substantial fee.
