The son of former Aberdeen defender Doug, Andrew is another product of the AFC Youth Academy. He made his professional debut in May 2004 in a 2-1 defeat to Dundee, making his second appearance at the end of the following season. By 2004-05 Andrew was captaining teams and in September 2004 led the reserves to victory in the Aberdeenshire Cup Final against Fraserburgh.
In 2005-06, Considine reached double figures in terms of appearances and became a first team regular in the 2006-07 season, playing in 36 matches and scoring his first goals for Aberdeen in a 2-0 victory at St. Mirren in January 2007. Shortly afterwards, Considine signed a two-year contract extension, agreeing a further four-year deal in August 2008. Has played for the Scotland U-21 squad and was with the Scotland U-20 squad in Canada in the summer of 2007for the FIFA World Youth Championship tournament.
A powerful defender who reads the game well he has become a real stalwart of the team and virtually a fixture in Derek McInnes' defences - either as centre back or left back. His continuing regularity of appearnces in the 2018-19 season trigerred a cluse in Andrew's contract that led to him signing a further extension to 2021, making him potentially one of the longest serving players, after Willie Miller, in the history of the Club.

At the age of 33 Andy finally gained national recognition when he was called up to join the Scotland squad in October 2020, being capped for the match against Slovakia on the 11th. On 16th December the same year it was announced that Andy and the Club had agreed a contract extension to the summer of 2022.
Early in season 2021-2022, in a match away to Qarabag in Baku Andy suffered a cruciate ligamen injury that put him out of the game for many months, only returning late in the season when he took a place on the bench against Hibernian at Pittodrie. Contract extension negotiations had been going on but became complicated and in the end the Club withdrew its offer. It was confirmed on 7th April 2022 that, after becoming one of Aberdeen's longest serving players, Andy would be leaving at the end of the current season.
He played in the final match of the season, as Captain, against St Mirren, but was forced to retire injured early in the second half. The fans gave him a rousing farelwell.
On 16th of June 2022 St Johnstone announced that he had signed a two year deal to play for them.
