Having begun his professional development in the Hamilton Academical youth system, Lewis made an early break through to their fist team and was then signed by Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes. His debut came immediately, in the Europa League tie against Burnley FC and he instantly made his name by scoring at Turf Moor with a spectacular overhead kick. Lewis quickly established himself as a key member of the first team, with strong displays and a good goalscoring rate. On 19th May 2021 the Club had to announce the disappointing news that Lewis had submitted a transfer request after Watford FC had made a derisory offer to sign him.
At the start of season 2022-2023 Millwall FC made an offer but were turned down, but then Serie A Bologna side took an interest and on 12th July 2022 it was officially announce that he had been transferred for an undisclosed fee.
