Perhaps the greatest icon of The Aberdeen Collection, this silver replica of the trophy that Aberdeen won on a night of torrential rain in Gothenburg represents the Club's greatest achievement to date. Playing against the much favoured Real Madrid, the Dons secured a famous 2-1 victory at the Ullevi Stadium in front of a crowd of 17,800 - mostly Aberdeen Supporters - and forever ensured that the Club's name would be associated with European excellence.
The replica of the trophy that was presented to the Club to keep permanently was only a scale model so the directors at the time decided to have a life-sized replica made to ensure that the Club's achievement would be fully understood and appreciated.
Since its arrival at Pittodrie, the cup - which is on permanent display in the Main Stand Foyer - has provided a photo opportunity to thousands of fans and players and has travelled to many places to promote the Club and Northeast Scotland.
Aberdeen supporters hardly need reminding that the players Alex Fergusson sent onto the soaking field for the final were: Leighton, Rougvie, McMaster, Cooper, McLeish, Miller, Strachan, Simpson, McGhee, Black, Weir, with John Hewitt coming on as a substitute for Eric Black.
On the bench: Gunn, Watson, Angus, Kennedy
Goalscorers: Black 6, Hewitt 111. Real Madrid: Juanito (pen) 14
