On Friday 13th of March 2020 the nation went into lockdown in order to combat the insidious pandemic of COVID-19. Many measures were taken and although doubts were aired about the value of people wearing face coverings they soon became mandatory for wearing inside any indoor public space such as shops. Soon afterwards, football clubs began to issue coverings (popularly known as masks) in Clubcolours and the Dons' Club Shop began retailing them in the summer of 2020.
The mask shown here is one of 19 different designs, including variations, that had been sold by the Club up to the end of 2020. All of these colourful pieces are represented in The Aberdeen Collection.
