Orion 1 - 1 Victoria United
Kick Off:    Gaiters       Knowles
Attendance: 0
Venue: Pittodrie Stadium, Aberdeen
Owing to the inclement weather on Saturday the match between the Orion and Victoria United teams in the semi-final for Lord Provost Fleming's Charity Shield had to be postponed, and a friendly game took place instead. Previous to the commencement of the game the pipe band from the depot, Castlehill Barracks, by the kind permission of Colonel H. H. Mathias, C.B., A.D.C., commanding the 75th Regimental District, played a number of patriotic airs, which were much appreciated by the small, but enthusiastic number of spectators. it was the intention of the Charity Committee to take up a collection during the game on behalf of the fund which is being raised for the behoof of the sufferers in the terrible disaster at Ibrox Park, Glasgow, but owing to the small attendance, it was decided to postpone the collection until a more suitable occasion, perhaps next Tuesday night, when the Aberdeen meet the Blackburn Rovers in a friendly match, if the officials of the Aberdeen Football Club agree to allow them to do so. Neither team was at full strength owing to some of the players not turning up. The Victoria United played with ten men during a part of the first half, until a young lad volunteered to play, and his services were at once accepted. The play during the first period of the game was chiefly in favour of the Orion, who, however, had the wind in their favour. Shortly after the commencement, Gaiters opened the scoring with a fast shot. The play on both sides, as might be expected, owing to the weather, was below par. Just before half time Knowles equalised with a fine cross shot, and Baird, an old Orion player, who took Ritchie's place at goal, had no chance of saving.

On resuming the United forced the play, but by this time the wind had fallen away considerably. Willox now acted as custodian for Orion, and saved several dangerous shots. Time arrived without any further scoring taking place.
