Aberdeen and District League
Aberdeen 5 - 1 Buckie Thistle
Kick Off:  6:45 PM   Mutch, Thomson, Mutch, Mutch, Moir.
Attendance: 0
Venue: Pittodrie Stadium, Aberdeen
In the opening game the season at Pittodrie last night Aberdeen defeated Buckie Thistle in an Aberdeen and District League game by 5 goals to 1.
For quite a long period of the first half the Thistle players held their own, but latterly the defence gave way, and Mutch gave the home team the lead from close range. Subsequently Thomson increased the lead, and before the interval Mutch again scored, Aberdeen A leading at half-time by 3-0.
Play continued keen in the second half, but Mutch put the issue beyond doubt by scoring a fourth goal. Thistle rallied after this, and after J. McIntosh had hit the crossbar, Esslemont scored for them following a corner kick. Before the end Moir scored a fifth goal for the home team from a penalty. Although clearly the inferior team, the Buckie players, who were at a disadvantage in regard to height and weight, were worriers all the time, and were the essence of pluck. They would have been unfortunate had they been denied the consolation of a goal. They were best served by Nicol, G. McIntosh, J. McIntosh, Esslemont, and Dickie.
At the interval the Aberdeen A forwards were rearranged, Moir going to centre-forward, Ritchie to outside left, Grant to inside right, and Thomson to outside right. The best of the home team were Dick, Moir (Clelland Juniors), Grant, and Ritchie.
