Aberdeen move up to 6th position in the Scottish Premier League, after a dissapointing
1-1 draw with Motherwell at Pittodrie.
The first real chance of the match came when Robbie Winters put his diving header straight into Well keeper Stevie Woods arms after only 4 minutes. It was a good opportunity for the on-form Don, and he will have been disappointed not to have done better. Eoin Jess produced the first real shot of any trouble, when after some good
work, he shot just wide of the post.
Aberdeen finally broke the deadlock after 31 minutes, when Eoin Jess scored a screamer of a goal in front of the Pittodrie crowd.
A couple of minutes later, Robbie Winters was unlucky with his effort, and it looked as if the Dons would go on to score more goals.
The second half began with Aberdeen going forward once again. 2 minutes after
the interval, Nigel Pepper had an effort at goal, but his shot went wide. After 67 minutes, Lee McCulloch scored the equalising goal for Motherwell against the run of play, in what was the only real highlight of an unexciting second half.
A Robbie Winters effort soon after was well saved by Stevie Woods in the Well goal. After 83 minutes Stephen McMillan of Motherwell was sent off, leaving Aberdeen with a one man advantage. Despite this, the Dons couldn't grab a late winner.
Overall, Paul Hegarty will be dissapointed not to have picked up all three
points, but he has managed to keep up his unbeaten run as Don's boss.
Aberdeen have now collected 10 points from a possible 12 under Hegarty, and
will travel to Perth with high hopes of beating St Johnstone.
