Elgin City 2 - 2 Aberdeen
Kick Off:    A. Anderson, From Scrimmage       McNair, Simpson.
Attendance: 0
Venue: Borough Briggs, Elgin
The fulfillment of a long-standing promise, the Aberdeen Football Club last night visited the Elgin and played a friendly game with the Elgin City Club. Proceeds were in aid of the fund for the new ground. There was a large attendance. Teams:-

Aberdeen: Mutch; Colman, Hume; Halkett, McIntosh, Wilson; Blackburn, Simpson, McNair, O'Hagan, Lennie.
Elgin City: Davidson; McRobbie, Craig; Hogg, Low, Leslie; H. Anderson, A. Anderson, R. C. Hamilton, Peterkin, Watson.

Elgin opened rather weakly. Their centre forward, Hamilton, of the Glasgow Rangers, had a try which went high over the bar. The visitors pressed, and after 15 minutes McNair scored, and not long afterwards Simpson beat Davidson and unsaveable shot. The home team now found confidence and swarmed round Mutch, but lost more than one chance to excitement. At length, following a combined run, A. Anderson scored for Elgin. Half-time was called with Aberdeen leading by 2 goals to 1.

On resuming, play was very equal, the locals giving a pleasing display against their stronger opponents. A scrimmage following a corner he held in the equaliser, the ball, after striking an Aberdeen player, finding its way into the net. Aberdeen attacked strongly, and the wing men tested Davidson with long shots. The game, which was contested in a sportsmanlike style throughout, ended in a draw of two goals each. Mr. Menzies, Elgin, was referee.
