Another Win For Aberdeen Reserves
The Aberdeen University team, members of which were taking part in their first senior game, put up a plucky but futile fight against Aberdeen A in an Aberdeenshire and District League match at Pittodrie last night, the points going to the home team by 3 goals to 1. The margin of victory did not adequately reflect the superiority of the winners, and but for the line display of MacGregor in goal, and the determined resistance offered by Roy, Chillas, and Donaldson, the students must have sustained a much heavier reverse. In attack the losers sought to compensate for the absence of combination by the substitution of individual dash, tactics which were rather easily countered. The winners generally held the upper hand, and while numerous good shots were parried, a little more steadiness near goal would have resulted in their victory being more decisive. Forbes had two of the winners' goals, and McBoyle claimed the other. The University goal was to the credit of McCombie, who took advantage of a mistake by the home defence. On the winners' side the outstanding players were McBoyle, Armstrong, Dick, and Ritchie.
