The East Reserve League game at Tannadice again saw Aberdeen put under pressure in the first half, but it was only a defensive mistake following a corner that put them a goal down at the interval, and they had had a "goal" disallowed.
United, however, were not to be denied the icing on their title cake and they snatched three goals in a six-minute spell midway through the second half, leaving Aberdeen only a late consolation goal when Andy Gibson converted a penalty after Thomson had been brought down.
