Aberdeen and the Wanderers met in a Northern League fixture at Clepington Park. The ground was in fair condition, but a high westerly wind prevailed. The teams were:- Wanderers: Don; Petrie, Taylor; Neave, Mathers, McNally; Moir, Black, McInroy, Graham, Burns. Aberdeen: Bisset; O'Brien, Dakers; Sangster, Thomson, Robertson; Brash, C. Mackie, H. Livingstone, Davidson, Fullarton. Referee - Mr. D. Scott, Montrose.
The Wanderers won the toss, and having asked their opponents to face both wind and sun, had thus the advantage at the start. After thirty minutes' play Graham drove forward from the outfield, and, McInroy intercepting the ball, re-addressed it with a quick swinging movement, the leather passing into the net far out of the goalkeeper's reach. The Aberdonians' defence was sound and reliable, but the Wanderers continued to monopolise the play.
The Wanderers reopened strongly. Gradually the Aberdonians settled down, and Don got some work to do. Indeed, he was kept constantly on the move. Davidson scored a goal for Aberdeen, and soon after Moir added another to the home team's score.
