Aberdeen A lost the toss, and kicked off two wards the west goal. In Northern League team monopolised most of play, and in the first five minutes of the game James Robertson scored. Although the juniors tried hard to get on equal terms, it was to no avail, for Brebner and Urquhart proved a pair of reliable backs, J. J. Simpson, centre half, was a hard worker, and as the result of a fine individual effort by this player, James Robertson got the ball, and added a second goal to the credit of the reserves. Shortly after Mackie scored a third goal as the result of a penalty given against more free for fouling McKinley within the penalty line. Close on half-time Fordyce got a hard shot to hold, but as he dropped the ball Gray rushed in, and scored for the juniors. Half-time was called with the Aberdeen A leading by three goals to one.

In the second half the juniors had more of the play, but they failed to follow up their advantages, and many good opportunities were lost. The A team were not long in taking the game in hand, and Mackie and James Robertson both scored. Close on time around added another goal for Aberdeen A.
