Aberdeen's Under 18 squad, already assured of the title, completed their Youth League programme in fitting fashion with an away victory over Celtic, their closest challengers for the No. 1 spot.
Not only did this extend their run of wins to 13 games, it also brought their league record against Celtic to two wins and a draw without conceding a single goal - a measure of comfort for the extra-time defeat they suffered at the hands of their Parkhead rivals in the B.P. Youth Cup quarter-final.
The 1-0 scoreline of the Barrowfield game scarcely flattered the Pittodrie colts, whose tight defence was seldom troubled and who, apart from Craig Ireland's scoring header following a Robert Bell free kick in 55 minutes, sub¬jected the Celtic goal to danger on a number of other occasions with Dennis Wyness, David Rowson and Ireland all coming close to finding the net.
