Motherwell 'A' Down

Brilliant Adam Gets Goals at Pittodrie

Aberdeen "A" were sound winners over Motherwell "A" in the Alliance Shield match at Pittodrie.

Clever in the outfield, the visitors, whose defensive lines included three "Newmans" were woefully weak in front of goal. Many smart moves might have been crowned with success, but the Fir Parkers' shooting was bad, and their forwards put too much work on the ball.
Adam, who led the home forwards, achieved a personal triumph by scoring all three goals for his side.
His first goal came six minutes after the start, a fast, deceptive low shot, and the other two, secured early and late in the second period, were the result of brilliant individual efforts. Tricking two opponents some six minutes after the re-start, the centre drove in a shot which left the Motherwell 'keeper helpless, and later when the half was well advanced, he dashed close on goal to head a Johnsto cross well home - a beautifully taken goal.
The Young Dons had complete command after the cross-over, when the wind was in their favour, and the Motherwell goal ran a number of narrow escapes.

A Polished Winger.

Next to Adam, Johnston and Warnock were conspicuous In the winners' attack.
Johnston has been displaying first-class form on the extreme right of late, and there is a general feeling that the junior should be given a run with the first team. He is a polished winger, who has speed and can cross with deadly accuracy.
Warnock worked hard in the inside berth and had not the best of luck near goal. Godfrey a half-back tried at outside-left, did all that was required of him satisfactorily enough, but it was patent that the mid line is his true sphere.
The home half-back line was particularly sound, with Donald always ready to augment the attack by sending in dangetous shots.

Rock-like Defenders.

With Sharp hack again as partner to Jackson, the Pittodrie backs were rock-like in their resistance, and Cumming in goal was never in real danger of being beaten.
Motherwell's "Newman" at centre-half was the dominant figure of the visitors' mid-line, and Taggart, in goal, was a stumbling block to the eager Aberdeen raiders. Murdoch, a first team man, at outside right and Wyllie, at centre, were the best of an ineffective Motherwell, attack.
