Hold Out To Gain A Point

Worst Ever At Pittodrie

Aberdeen "A" are still the best placed team in the race for the "C" Division (North-east) championship, but on Saturday's form against Brechin City they don't deserve to finish at the top of the table. No goals were scored, and the match was the worst seen at Piltodrie for many years.
The slow hand-clap will never be a stimulant to players to give of their best. At the same time football costs more nowadays, and the spectator is entitled to expect something better than the form the young Dons showed.
The Pittodrie team could not complain about the criticisms levelled by the crowd.

Defence Sound

The home defence was sound enough, with Paterson in good form at right back and Valentine, the trialist centre half-back from Buckie Thistle, dominant in the air.
Ewen was a grand purveyor at left half-back but the least said about the forwards the better. Rodger was consistently the most dangerous attacker, but when will the powers-that be realise that he is best at centre-forward?
He was allowed to change with Dunbar late the game, but the move was made far too late. Brechin deserve full marks for pluck, with special mention for George Tidy, their goalkeeper, who dealt confidently with the few shots that the home forwards did manage to get on the target.
