Aberdeen 11 - 0 Clachnacuddin

Two years ago the Dons Development side reached the final at Hampden and last year the U18s were knocked out at the semi-final stage.

With Barry Robson's side having made such a strong start to the Club Academy Scotland League, they will be hopeful of reaching the later stages once again.

Match report

The scoring started on five minutes when Tyler Mykyta was tripped inside the area. Captain Connor Barron stepped forward, put the keeper the wrong way and Aberdeen had an early lead.

On nine minutes a well worked move saw the ball worked across the box into path of Kevin Hanratty who came in off the left and the Scotland International curled a first time shot into the far corner.

Max Barry then had couple of decent hits from the edge of the area but keeper David Sienkowski was well positioned on both occasions. Michael Dangana headed a Hanratty cross into the net but the linesman had ruled the ball had gone out of play.

The visitors then had a good opportunity to pull a goal back when centre forward Shaun Morrison outpaced the defence but Tom Ritchie made a smart stop.

Left back Kieran Ngwenya pulled a shot just wide before Aberdeen then won a couple of corners as the one way traffic continued but Clach were defending soundly. After a difficult start they had done very well to limit the chances.

But there was another goal burst before the break.

Just before the half hour mark Calvin Ramsay crossed for Dangana who had time to steady himself before firing a low shot into the net to make it three.

On 37 minutes the keeper saved well from Dangana but Kieran Shanks squared the rebound to Max Barry who slotted home the fourth.

In the 41st minute Tyler Mykyta had a shot saved but Shanks well positioned to put in the rebound. A minute the same player did exactly the same thing inside the six yard box. The ball broke to Hanratty to who fired in a low ball and Kieran showed very good reactions to slide in and score.

At the start of the second half Aberdeen went close on a number of occasions before a Tyler Mykyta corner was met by the head of centre half Andy Paterson who directed the ball into the bottom corner for goal number seven.

On the hour mark Connor Barron was replaced by Jack MacIver. A short time later Jack Milne came on for Paterson.

In between the substitutions there was another goal, one of the best finishes of the night. On 65 minutes right back Calvin Ramsay picked the ball up on the edge of the area, he still had a lot to do but powered his way towards the by-line and then from a tight angel fired into the roof of the net.

If that goal was good, the final three strikes were of equal quality.

Aberdeen continued to dominate but credit to goalkeeper Sienkowski who made a number of excellent saves. Tom Richie was also called into action when substitute Aidan MacKinnon broke clear but again the Aberdeen keeper, who had very little to do, showed good concentration to be well positioned.

On 77 minutes Michael Dangana won a free kick on the edge of the area after a mazy run. Kevin Hanratty took it and confidently placed the ball into the top corner. A really good goal. With just over ten minutes to go Jack MacIver also produced an excellent finish, just outside the area he curled a shot into the bottom corner with his left foot, giving the keeper no chance. Then with a few minutes left Jack, who is part of the U16 squad, showed his ability when he curled in a free kick with his other foot.

A very professional performance from Barry Robson's side with plenty of quality. The Clachnacuddin youngsters deserve credit for keeping their discipline and they all kept working hard to the very end.
