Gavin Beith and Emma Hunter had both Lauren Gordon and vice-captain Francesca Ogilvie unavailable for their first starting eleven of the new season. New signing Eirinn McCafferty was amongst the substitutes whilst 16-year-old Brodie Greenwood was given her debut alongside Eilidh Shore in midfield.
The hosts almost went in front inside the first minute when a scramble in the area led to Megan Quigley hitting the post. Aberdeen went right up the pitch and should've gone ahead themselves. A strong run down the left by Hutchison saw her in the penalty area but she fired her shot just passed the target.
Hutchison passed up another chance on ten minutes as she got on the end of long ball from Donna Paterson but Accies keeper Chloe Nicholson did well to race off her line and block the Dons striker's shot.
The visitors continued to press for the opener against a resilient Hamilton defence. Eva Thomson did well to ride a tackle before firing in a shot from outside the box but it was too close to Nicholson who gathered well.
Greenwood then fancied her chances of getting a debut goal as her long-range effort was fielded by Nicholson. Mya Christie was the next to try her luck as she cut in from the left and sent a powerful shot straight at the Accies keeper.
The hosts came close when Josi Giard tried a curling effort from wide on the left but her shot just skimmed the bar and landed on top of AJ Meach's net. At the other end a deep Chloe Gover cross from the left found her opposite wing-back Bailley Collins who couldn't direct her header on target.
Good work down the left by Hutchison led to the ball finding Greenwood in a central position and her powerful strike from distance shaved the crossbar on its way over. Chloe Gover brought a great save out of Nicholson as the keeper was at full stretch to tip Gover's drive around the post as the sides went in all-square at the interval.
The Dons continued to dominate possession as the second half began with Giard posing a threat to them on the break. Summer Christie was the first to have an effort in the second period but her speculative effort from distance was never going to trouble Meach in the Aberdeen goal.
Accies had their keeper to thank again after 53mins. Jess Broadrick's ball up the line found Christie who beat Hannah Coakley for speed before squaring to Thomson. The Dons midfielder sent a curling right-foot effort towards the back post which Nicholson did well to parry away.
It seemed like it was only a matter of time until the Dons scored but it was Hamilton who took the lead against the run of play after 64 minutes. A ball into the area found Chloe MUIR who flicked a header over Meach and into the net.
The goal gave the hosts a lift and Giard threatened straight from the restart but she was well marshalled by captain Loren Campbell. The hosts lead lasted little more than three minutes as a brilliant strike pulled Aberdeen level. Bailley COLLINS gathered just in from the right to send a dipping shot into the top corner from 25 yards.
Eirin McCafferty came off the bench for her debut, replacing fellow debutant Brodie Greenwood. Despite the Dons dominance they found themselves behind again on 75 minutes. GIARD found space in the penalty area and forced a shot passed Meach from close range.
Aberdeen made their second change of the match as Thomson was forced off with a knock and was replaced by Hannah Stewart.
As the Dons pushed for a second equaliser there was always a chance of getting hit on the break and that's exactly what happened with two minutes remaining. Accies won the ball in midfield and Giard played the ball to substitute Olivia POTTER who hit a superb drive into the top corner.
Aberdeen tried to hit back and came close in the final minute as Chloe Gover smashed a shot off the underside of the bar before Stewart knocked the rebound off the post. It wasn't to be for the reds as they started their campaign with defeat.
