It was a tale of what might have been for Aberdeen's Under 18's in the Kingdom of Fife as they drew a match they should have won quite easily.
Kevin 'Soapy' Souter and Richard Foster were neat and stylish in midfield, threading through passes for the lively front pair of Murray Watson and Stephen Tarditi.
The young Dons were at their best when right winger Allan Carella was on the ball. He displayed an abundance of trickery and turned his marker inside out.
Big Tarditi was coming more into play half way through the first half and one superb bodyswerve on the edge of the box created space for a shot well saved by the Dunfermline keeper. The opening goal came when Souter released Scott Muirhead wide on the left and he side-stepped his man to play the ball quickly into the near post where Tarditi was free to slide the ball into the back of the net. However a Dunfermline defender beat him to it and put the ball into the back of his own net!
Despite numerous efforts, the yound Dons could not get that second goal that would have allowed them a cushion. Murray Watson had two great chances well saved by busy Pars goalie McLue.
Dunfermline began to come into the game and Hutton made a succession of decent saves. It was not until near the end of the game that Stewart chipped Hutton to claw back a point for the Fife side.
Aberdeen pressed again for the last few minutes, however it was not to be and the Dons had to settle for a share of the points.
