Minutes later Norwegian hitman ARILD STAVRUM made it 1-0 with a great shot. McAlister crossed and Stavrum stabbed the ball past Ruitenbeek. Darren Young had a great chance to make it 2-0 after 39 minutes, but he shot well over. The Don's brought on youngster Darren Mackie early in the second half, and he had his fair share of chances. The first came in the 67th minute when he found himself one on one with Ruitenbeek, but he failed to hit the target.
In the 77th minute, Mackie had his best chance, he did well to beat the Dunfermline defence, but his shot rocketed off the post. Mackie had another effort just a minute later but he fired it straight into the arms of the Dunfermline keeper.
Despite having little to do throughout, Esson did brilliantly well in the 87th minute to save a Barry Nicholson free-kick, diving low to the left hand side of his goal to push the ball wide for a corner. Chris McGroarty had one last chance to equalise for the visitors, but he shot just wide.
