Dons move into second spot with hard fought win

Aberdeen moved up into 2nd place in the league after a good win away to Motherwell. It is always a difficult place to go and play and there wasn't a lot of quality football due to the pitch. This win gave the young Dons their fourth consecutive win and sets them up for next weekends semi final.

Aberdeen had three or four chances in the first half with Bagshaw and Skinner going close. The best chance however fell to McVitie who went one on one with the Motherwell keeper but failed to convert. The Pressure eventually paid off when Aberdeen took the lead from an own goal.

Ashley McInnes fired in a dangerous cross when it hit the unfortunate Souter and ended up in the back of the net. There was no further scoring after the interval but Aberdeen went close again through Ashley McInnes after Maguire set him up but he fired the effort over the bar. In the last 10 minutes Motherwell threw everything at Aberdeen but they handled the pressure and defended well, putting in some good blocks.
