Second string are second best

A first half goal from Lithuanian Andreas Velicka was enough to give the Jambos the points in an uninspiring SPL reserve encounter at Forthbank against a very young Aberdeen side.

The visitors best opportunities came in the opening period, the first when David Donald found Chris Maguire, whose good run and cross found Dyron Daal at the far post, only for the Dutch striker to put the ball wide.

Then, in 31 minutes, Maguire found himself one on one with Jamie McDonald, but the youngster's poor effort was easily saved by the Hearts keeper. A minute later, a mix-up in the Aberdeen defence between Donald and Zander Diamond, allowed VELICKA to take full advantage, firing a low shot past Derek Soutar.
