Young Dons hit back to sink Hibs

The young Dons came from behind to defeat Hibs in an entertaining under-21 clash at Pittodrie this afternoon. The Hi-Bees took the lead in the 24th minute when former Ranger players Stephen DOBBIE cut inside from the left before firing a wicked shot past the despairing Ryan Esson.

Within four minutes Aberdeen were level. A Kevin Souter cross from the left was met perfectly by the head of Stephen TARDITI who gave Ally Brown no chance with a well directed effort. The Dons nearly took the lead in the 31st minute when a Souter shot was cleared off the line by defender Andy Cruickshank.

The game was played in brilliant sunshine and ten minutes after the restart, Michele Lombardi, who was causing real problems down the left, was unfortunate to see a fierce shot on the turn flash past the post.

The winner came in 69 minutes when Kevin O'Neil failed to clear his lines, allowing John STEWART to blast the ball past Brown who was caught out of position. With nine minutes remaining, Aberdeen almost grabbed a third when Stewart fired wide after good work from Tarditi.

O'Neil and team-mate Steven Fletcher were yellow carded by referee Steve Reilly.
